What is Sabil?
Sabil means a path.

Humans are gifted with the ability to think and choose; to be on a grateful or ungrateful path. The Golden Ratio Wudu Tap is a tool designed to fill your heart and soul (نَفْس) with gratitude through tafakur while perfecting the art of Wudu. Let’s strive to be on a grateful path.

The Problem

The Prophet ﷺ warned us not to waste water, even if we’re using a flowing river. “What is this extravagance (isrāf), O Sa’d?” Sa’d said: “Can there be extravagance in wudu?” The Prophet ﷺ replied: “Yes, even if you are using a flowing river.” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 7065 – Hasan) Modern science echoes this wisdom.

The First Law of Thermodynamics tells us that energy can’t be created or destroyed, only transferred. Yet when we perform wudu at a regular faucet, often in haste and rush, we risk wasting more than just water.

We might also be wasting the energy that drives entire rivers: the gravitational force that pulls water down mountains, the kinetic power that sustains ecosystems for thousands of kilometres, and the memory and motion contained in every drop.

A regular faucet, without intention or design, disconnects us from this sacred flow. It reduces water to a commodity, not a blessing. That’s why we created the Golden Ratio Wudu Tap — to nurture gratitude through mindful wudu and tafakur, harnessing the energy of water in a way that’s not only sustainable but sacred.

Water in Islam

“Every living thing is made of water.” Water is not only a practical necessity for cleaning and hydrating ourselves, but it also holds a symbolic value representing spiritual purity. Muslims view water as a precious gift from Allah SWT that should be used wisely and not wasted.

History of Bilal RA

During his lifetime, Bilal RA performed Wudu with the utmost care, followed by as many prayers as he could out of gratitude. Due to his persistent deed, the Prophet Muhammad SAW clearly heard his footsteps in Jannah. This highlights that Allah rewards those who worship him wholeheartedly with immense value of gratitude and mindfulness.

Al-Jazari Peacock Wudu Machine

Al-Jazari’s Peacock Wudu Machine was one of his great innovations that connected with the natural world, fellow humans, and Allah SWT.

At Sabil, we are inspired to design products with purpose and intentionally strive for excellence in everything we do, including performing Wudu. Because for every creation, there is a reminder of the Creator.

And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth- all from Him. Indeed, there are signs for people who reflect. (Al-Jathiyah 45:13)

BEHIND SABIL TEAM

Planting Tafakur on One Heart at a Time

Assalamu Alaikum my name is Faizal Alimahomed,

I often wonder how Ihsaan could be embodied in the design and function like a faucet. This is something I’ve lived with from raising my foot into a sink at work to questioning why we perform sacred rituals in spaces that feel anything but sacred.

Inspired by the legacy of Al-Jazari and the Sabil builders of the past, I’ve been chasing that intersection of water, design, and intention in faith, which has led to the intention of reviving the gift of wudu through personal insights, experiences, and motivations that have helped me draw closer to God.

I hope you, too, will experience the beauty of Ihsaan with the Golden Ratio Wudu Tap by recognising the power of tafakur.

Inshallah. Bismillah.

OUR VALUES

Foundations of Sabil

Crafting products to connect deeply with Allah SWT.

Balance

True balance isn’t just about symmetry; it’s about alignment. Between body and soul. Between intention and action. The Golden Ratio Wudu Tap is precision-crafted to deliver just enough water so you’re not overdoing or underdoing. Just calm flow. It turns every Wudu into a reminder: your spiritual rhythm should echo in your worldly rhythm. Designed to centre you in motion, mindset, and meaning.

Beauty

Ihsaan means doing everything as if Allah is watching because He is. The Prophet (SAW) told us to perfect it, and this tap is built to help you do just that. With every drop designed to flow gracefully, you’re invited to bring beauty into even the quietest rituals. It’s a nudge toward mindfulness, a tool to elevate your standard, not just of hygiene but of heart.

Wisdom

Every element of the Golden Ratio Tap exists for a reason. That’s حِكْمَة. It teaches you that even geometry can carry purpose. Using it isn’t just physical; it’s reflective. A prompt to pause and ask: Why this ritual? Why now? It transforms Wudu from routine to revelation, a daily chance to recalibrate your inner compass toward Allah.

Stewardship

Water is mercy, don’t waste it. As Khalifas, we’re called to care for what we’ve been entrusted with. The Wudu Tap makes it easy: no plumbing, power, or excess. Just smart, simple engineering that honours the Sunnah and the planet. Practising conservation isn’t a side note. It’s part of the ‘ibadah. Every mindful drop is a quiet act of eco-worship.
